Topic: Technology Graphic cards are so important now
20:13 Sunday, 26 Jun 2005

Buying a new graphics card should simple. Just plug it in and away you go. But when ever I try and upgrade a component I am never that lucky. All I wanted was a good low profile graphics card for my new slimline P4 computer. So I bought a Radeon 9200 Low Profile card from eBay and it only has a DVI output when using the low profile backing plate, so then I had to get a DVI to VGA converter which luckily was quick to be delivered and cheap. Problem is now my screen does not seen as crisp and clear as it did with my older card. The only reason I bought the new card was so I could play Star Wars: Republic Commando which I can now play but on a fuzzy screen.

I went to the Sun Solaris 10 download page the other day to get the ISO's and was surprised and bemused by Sun's choice of image for the webpage.

Does the picture of an over weight asian kid give you Immediate Gratification? Seems a strange way to market software.

Thanks to hand-me-downs my new main desktop computer is a slim line Compaq P4 1.7Ghz with 512MB. I have removed components from my old AMD 1.4GHz machine and now the new one has 1Gb Ram, a 160GB SATA drive and a DVD Burner.

The best things some in small packages and in just 5KB (40,960 Bit's) of computer code an extremely clever programmer has made a 5K version of the classic game 'Wolfenstein'. You can play the game at http://www.wolf5k.com.

In searching out more 5K information I found this competition site the5k.org and an amazing two player tank game.

23:13 Wednesday, 16 Mar 2005

I am not sure when this was updated, but there is now a Flash Player 6 for PocketPC 2003. Macromedia are heavily promoting Flash on mobile devices, both PocketPC and mobile phones. Flash is a good medium for cross platform applications and content and it is always good to know some Flash. Macromedia - Flash Player : Macromedia Flash Player 6 for Pocket PC 2003

Best thing is now I can view my own site properly on my HP iPaq 2215 PocketPC.
